The City of Roanoke provides police, fire, and EMS services for Roanoke, as well as fire and EMS services for portions of the Town of Northlake, unincorporated Denton County, and unincorporated Tarrant County. Our Telecommunications Center staff consists of 8 dispatchers, 2 senior dispatchers, and 1 supervisor.

Applicants must be able to pass Communications compatibility and skills testing modules which evaluate data entry/keyboarding speed (minimum 40wpm), multitasking, memory recall, map reading, numerical prioritization, reading comprehension, spelling, and sentence clarity.
Roanoke PD Dispatcher Lateral Transfer Program Salary for Fiscal Year 24.25:
Lateral pay will be based on years of telecommunications experience from $57,127.20 and up to $68,022.22*.

*Additional 4% increase is awarded after successful completion of a 6-month probationary period.
The following requirements must be met in order to be considered for the lateral transfer program:
- Must have six months or more of municipal or County Police, Fire, and Enhanced NG911 dispatching experience.
- Applicants must have no more than a 90-day break in service from the time they separated from a comparable law enforcement agency.
- Must have a valid Texas Driver License and the driving record must be in compliance with City of Roanoke policy.
- Must be licensed by the Texas Commission in Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
- Must have the ability to pass all pre-employment screenings to include: a drug screen and background check, driving record check, polygraph, psychological assessment, and medical screen to include hearing test.
- Must have no pending disciplinary actions or investigations for misconduct or criminal activity.
- F5 must reflect an Honorable Discharge from all previous agencies.
