In June 2025, the Insurance Services Office (ISO) upgraded Roanoke’s Public Protection Classification from 02/2X to Class 1. All rated properties served by Roanoke are now certified as ISO Class 1.
The Insurance Services Office is an independent organization that surveys a community’s fire protection capabilities and assigns a rating of 1-10. A rating of one indicates outstanding fire protection capabilities while a rating of ten indicates unacceptable fire protection services.
The Public Protection Classification (PPC) is the countrywide classification system used by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) to grade a community's local fire protection. Most Insurance companies utilize this grade when calculating fire insurance premiums.
