Who can get a library card?

Roanoke Library membership is available at no charge to 

  • residents of Denton or Tarrant counties
  • Texshare Card members
  • NWISD students and staff
We offer a low annual fee of $25 for those who are not eligible for a free card.

The library also honors cards from any  MetroShare Library.  

How do I apply for a library card?
At this time, you can either stop by the library and fill out an application or fill out an online application.  If you apply online you will still need to pick up your card in person and will need a valid ID showing your current address.  It only takes a few minutes setup an account, and you can browse the collection while you wait.  We have a lot of different types of materials to choose from, so be sure to check them all out!

Renewals

 Materials checked out in Roanoke are subject to our auto-renewal policies.  

You can renew library materials by any of the following methods: 
  • By phone at 817-491-2691 (Please have your library card number handy.)
  • Via the online catalog (check with a staff member for assistance with your login ID and password)
  • In person
  • In reply to one of our courtesy/overdue notice emails*

Items may not be renewed if they are on reserve for someone else. Interlibrary Loan and consortium item renewal terms are set by the lending libraries.

*Courtesy/Overdue email notifications must be setup on your account by either submitting an email address at signup, or adding an email address and signing up for notification through your account online.

Loan Periods

Most library materials may be borrowed for 21 days (3 weeks).  Our automatic renewal system will extend your loan if no one is currently waiting for it.  Loan periods for items borrowed via Interlibrary Loan or from other libraries are set by the lending library.

Holds

Items may be reserved through the online catalog. If you need assistance, a library staff member will he happy to help. Check with the Information Desk for notification options. 

Returns

Books and other materials may be returned to the Information Desk, placed in the book drop on the outside front wall of the library, or returned at the drive-through book drop located on the north side of the library. Items returned after library hours or on holidays will be checked in when the library opens next.
