Message from Mayor Gierisch

Roanoke continues to shine. From welcoming new residents and businesses, to banding together to support neighbors, our city makes me proud.

The Roanoke Fire Department, with the assistance of several area departments, responded to a two-alarm fire in the early hours of June 26, 2023. Thanks to the committed excellence of all public safety teams, no injuries were sustained and all occupants safely vacated their home. Unfortunately, the occupants lost most of their belongings in the fire. Thank you to all agencies who assisted and for the generosity and care from Roanoke neighbors. If you wish to donate, please contact the American Red Cross Greater North Texas.

The Roanoke Parks & Recreation Department accepted a $50,000 National Grant Award in August of 2022 as part of the National Fitness Campaign. The campaign, sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, is part of a national movement to make world-class fitness free and accessible in public spaces across the country. With the grant funding, the Parks & Recreation Department built an outdoor fitness court. We are excited to announce the fitness court is now complete and open to the public. The court is located on the south end of the Roanoke soccer complex, 501 Roanoke Rd. An official grand opening of the court will be scheduled for a future date. In the interim, we look forward to welcoming the public to enjoy this new piece of Roanoke Parks.

We enjoyed a fantastic July 3rd All American Fireworks and Festival with thousands of you! The event was held on historic Oak Street, and welcomed over 20 vendors, Emerald City Band, and the best fireworks show in the area. Thank you to all who joined us.

Our website is full of important updates, and tips to maintain safety during these hot Texas summer months. Please visit the website, or call any of our talented departments, for assistance. Employee Spotlight: Tim Stokes

Each month we wish to introduce you to one of our incredible staff members.

This month, our spotlight is on Tim Stokes, Information Technology Systems Analyst. Tim has worked with the Roanoke IT Department for just over a year. When asked what he loves most about his job, Tim responded, "Working with everyone around the City, and learning what every department and facility does."

Outside of work, Tim enjoys gaming, traveling, and cooking. A fun fact about Tim: He has visited five countries and looks forward to visiting more in the near future.
