Join our Summer Reading Challenge

Register to participate in our reading challenge by visiting our site. You'll find an easy way to track your reading, and find information about special programs. This year's challenge is designed to help you get into the habit of reading. We're asking you to spend at least 15 minutes each day reading. You can read more if you're inspired; our theme is ALL TOGETHER NOW. Let's read!

Art Together Now Exhibition

Appreciate the tiny art show on display this month in the library and vote for your favorite kid, teen, and adult art pieces inside the library. We'll announce our blue ribbon winners at the end of the month.

Early Learning 

(Ages 0-6) 

The library offers regular storytimes for our littlest learners, including:

Baby Rhyme Time - Tuesdays @ 10:30 am

Board books, fingerplays & fun for ages 0-2 and their caregivers.

Namaste & Read - Thursdays @ 10:30 am

Yoga, movement & stories for ages 2-6.  Bring your own towel or mat. 

Preschool Storytime - Fridays @ 10:30 am

Stories, rhymes & songs for ages 2-6. Siblings welcome.

Family Storytime - 1st Wednesdays @ 6:30 pm

Stories, rhymes, songs & a family activity for all families with young children.

Fun & learning opportunities for school-aged children include:

Marvelous Mondays @ 2:00 pm 

Kids will enjoy a learning program with an expert speaker.

  • 7/24 - Ramblin Rita's Texas Tales (Community Center)
  • 7/31 - Harry Potter Birthday Party (Meeting Room)

Sport Stacking with Speed Stacks - Sat 7/15 @ 10:30 am / Meeting Room

An interactive presentation on sport stacking, a hand-eye coordination activity that gets competitive.  

Perot Tech Truck - Wed 7/19 @ 2:00 pm / Meeting Room

A mobile makerspace from the Perot Museum will provide hands-on learning activities that illustrate important STEAM principles.

(Ages 11-17)

Fun &learning opportunities for tweens &teens include:  

Teen Tuesdays @ 2:00 pm 

Teens will enjoy a learning program with an expert speaker weekly or a librarian-led game in the library meeting room.

Artificer's Club: Count Your Lucky Stars - Sat 7/8 @ 2:00 pm / Meeting Room

Create your own sparkling jar of origami stars and learn about the legend that inspired this craft.  

Teen Bene-kit - Sat 7/22 All Day Takeaway Activity

Earn volunteer hours for school on your own time with a kit that provides supplies and instructions to help you choose your own volunteer adventure. This month's projects will help you better understand fire safety and help us celebrate First Responder Appreciation Month.

We believe in life-long learning. Adult fun & learning opportunities include:

Citizenship Classes - Mon & Wed @ 5:00 - 7:30pm / Conference Room  

ESL Classes - Tue & Thu @ 12:00 -2:30 pm & 5:00 - 7:30pm / Conference Room  

North Texas Adult Education and Literacy (NTAEL) offers free classes for new citizens and learners of English.  To register or for more information, call 940-369-4047.  

Fiber Freind-zy - Thursdays @ 1:00 pm / Community Center 

Explore knitting, crochet, and other fiber arts at this weekly meeting where you can work on your own, seek advice from others, or learn something new. All skill levels are welcome.  

Introduction to Mindfulness - Sat 7/15 2:00 - 2:30 pm & 5:00 - 7:30pm / Conference Room  

Learn how to use your senses to be present in the moment and to appreciate our experiences as they occur, without judgment. Register by calling 817-491-2691 or emailing library@roanoketexas.com.  

Crafternoon: Rock Painting - Sat 7/29 @ 2:00 pm / Meeting Room 

This month we are painting rocks! Let your imagination and creativity shine through on nature's tiny canvases. Take them home, or leave them to add to our Painted Rock Garden at the Community/Senior Center next door. No prior rock-painting experience necessary.

Roanoke Visitor Center & Museum

Open Tue - Sat 10:00 am -  6:00 pm 

This summer the Roanoke Visitor Center and Museum’s temporary exhibit is showcasing a colorful collection of ceramic-glazed dinnerware and nesting dolls. The American-made dinnerware includes mid-century pieces by Fiesta, Lu-Ray Pastels, Bauer Pottery, Petals by Oneida, and Harlequin.
